Collective created in 2008, Coax brings together about twenty artists around a common axis: creation, booking, organization and production of protean projects / objects (performances, festivals, parties, tours, curation, label, radio ...) within a sustainable cultural ecosystem. Since its creation, Coax has constantly built a strong and transversal artistic identity around creative music, crossing aesthetics and disciplines by going beyond the traditional esthetics.
Through its activity as a producer / broadcaster, as well as the development of cultural actions and artistic exchanges with various audiences, Coax has become over the years a recognized actor in musical creation at the regional, national and international level, evolving over the years at the crossroads of several networks: experimental music, performance, rock, noise, jazz / improvised music, contemporary music, electronic music. It creates bridges between so-called alternative and institutional venues promoting diversity of audiences.

Presentation

Collectif créé en 2008, Coax réunit une vingtaine d&rsquo;artistes autour d&rsquo;un axe commun : la création, la diffusion, l&rsquo;organisation et la production de projets/objets protéiformes (performances, festivals, soirées, tournées, curation, label, radio...) au sein d&rsquo;un écosystème culturel durable. Depuis sa création, Coax n&rsquo;a eu de cesse de se construire une identité artistique forte et transversale autour des musiques de création, croisant les esthétiques et les disciplines en dépassant les traditionnels clivages de genre.
Au travers de son activité de producteur/diffuseur, du développement d&rsquo;actions culturelles et d&rsquo;échanges artistiques auprès de publics variés, Coax est devenu au fil des années un acteur reconnu de la création musicale au niveau régional, national et international, évoluant à la croisée de plusieurs réseaux : musiques expérimentales, performance, rock, noise, jazz/musiques improvisées, musiques contemporaines, musiques électroniques. Il crée des ponts entre les lieux dits alternatifs et institutionnels et favorise ainsi le mélange des publics.

JULIEN DESPREZ (Guitar, improviser, performer, composer)
If free-Jazz & Rock were his first musical love stories, he was quickly attracted to freer artistic forms flouting esthetic barriers to leave room for improvisation. Today, he considers guitar more like a drum, an organ, an instrument that can be modified and deployed at will.

His practice of sound arts is opened on multiple territories: he performs on machines, guitar, works live on electronic installations or in studio as artistic director and sound engineer.

YANN JOUSSEIN (Drums, electronic percussion, improviser, composer)
Graduate of the CNSM in 2008, winner of the National contest at « La Défense » in 2010 and 2011, his music is an experimental exploration from extanded drumming techniques to electronic music.

ANTOINE VIARD (Saxophone, improviser, composer)
Graduate of the CNSM in 2009, he forms the bands Pipeline & Hippie Diktat (as well as its orchestra declination Monment(a)) as well as his solo project Tumulus.

JULIEN DESPREZ (Guitare, improviser, performer, composer)
Si le free-Jazz et le rock ont été ses premiers amours musicaux, il a été très vite attiré vers des formes artistiques plus libres faisant fi des barrières esthétiques et laissant la place à l&rsquo;improvisation. Aujourd'hui il envisage la guitare plutôt comme une batterie, un orgue, un instrument modifiable et déployable à souhait.

Sa pratique des arts sonores est ouverte et ses territoires d&rsquo;expression sont multiples : il se produit aux machines, à la guitare, travaille en live sur des dispositifs électroniques ou en studio sur diverses créations et productions.

YANN JOUSSEIN (Drums, electronic percussion, improviser, composer)
Diplomé du CNSM en 2008 puis primé au concours national de la Défense en 2010 et 2011, sa musique s'inscrit dans une veine expérimentale entre techniques étendues à la batterie et la musique électronique.

ANTOINE VIARD (Saxophone, improviser, composer)
Diplômé du Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris en 2009, il fonde les groupes Pipeline et Hippie Diktat (et sa déclinaison en grand orchestre « Monument(a) ») et son projet solo Tumulus.
