CLAIRE GAPENNE a.k.a. Terrine

Claire Gapenne has been performing since 2012. Radical and spontaneous electronic music, between no-techno and surgical noise. Originally from Amiens, former active member of the industrial rock band Headwar, currently in Jazzoux (with Amédée de Murcia) and in an improvisational duo with Julien Desprez. She directed the Orchestre Inharmonique de Nice in 2018. She is currently working with poet and artist Amandine Testu on an art brut puppet theater piece. Today released on numerous labels such as No Lagos, Tanzprocesz, Bruit Direct or Third Type Tape... and has played in many venues and festivals such as Instants Chavirés, Cave 12, Cafe Oto, Ateliers Claus, Schiev, UH Fest, LUFF... Terrine advocates for free, unlabeled music.

Listening alone, without seeing him, it is not obvious that Julien Desprez plays the electric guitar. The king instrument of rock'n'roll is hijacked here with a salutary spontaneity, transformed by a constellation of internal and external modifications that radically shift its use. In an unreserved physical commitment, the effects pedals become a real dance floor, struck by electrified tap dancing. The musical gesture is inseparable from movement; the sound is born from the friction between body, matter, and intensity. Voice, electricity, rhythm, contrasts, tenderness, and fury clash in his performances to bring out a sensitive, raw, and deeply emotional sound world. This friction draws the audience into an inner trance, bringing them closer to their own emotional and passionate intensity.
